German Remembrance Day in Glencree in the Wicklow Mountains:

Circle Discussion “Is Reconciliation a dream beyond reach?” in Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation. Interesting statements from Irish-German couples, from the US Embassy, from Northern Ireland, from the German Ambassador who was born in East-Berlin, and others.

Second: Ecumenical Service with students involved, accompanied by the Goethe Choir. Reflection about “Love your enemies” from Matthew 5.

Third: Wreath laying in the Cemetery with the Piper (see picture):

Fourth: light reception.

A well attended day. It’s good when commemoration leads people to conversation and thoughts about the present time and the future.
